Simple Install Tips
Pilot Bearing Inspection: Always replace the pilot bearing in the flywheel when installing a new input shaft. A worn bearing will cause the shaft to vibrate, leading to rapid wear of the 1272298903 splines.
Verify Spline Fit: Before final assembly, slide the clutch disc onto the new input shaft to ensure the splines match perfectly without binding.
Oil Seal Replacement: Never reuse the old input shaft oil seal. Install a new ZF-certified radial oil seal to prevent transmission fluid from leaking into the clutch housing.
Check Input Pocket Bearing: Inspect the bearing located at the back of the input shaft (where it connects to the main shaft). If there is any pitting or discoloration, replace it immediately to avoid catastrophic shaft failure.
Grease Sparingly: Apply a very light coat of high-temperature lithium grease to the splines. Excess grease can fly off onto the clutch plate, causing clutch slippage.
