1. Measure the Wear Limit (The “A” Value): Before installing, press the new ring onto the gear cone and measure the gap between the ring and the gear teeth using a feeler gauge. If the gap is below the ZF technical limit (usually 0.8mm), the gear cone is worn and must be replaced alongside the ring.

2. Lubrication is Key: Do not install the ring dry. Immerse the 1269328289 in clean transmission fluid (e.g., ZF-Ecofluid M) for at least 15 minutes prior to assembly to ensure the friction material is properly primed.
